Rajveer Stainless & Alloys is the prominent manufacturer, supplier, and exporter of pipe bends and elbows worldwide. The entire long radius elbow range is available at different dimensions, size, shape, length, surface finish, and wall thickness. We also offer this LR Bend as per our valuable clients and the industry demands at the best price. It is the part of pipe fittings used broadly as a form of connection between two lengths of pipes for the fluid’s flow direction into the pipe. These are used in the piping system for smooth working.
Long-radius (LR) elbows are pipe fittings specifically designed to change the direction of flow with a gentle turn. By definition, a long-radius elbow has a centerline curvature of 1.5× the nominal pipe diameter (1.5D). This larger radius produces a smoother, gradual change in direction, which reduces turbulence and pressure drop compared to sharper bends. Long-radius elbows are commonly available in standard angles (22.5°, 45°, 90°, 180°) and are identified by their large center-to-face dimensions (1.5×NPS for 90° bends). In contrast, a short-radius (SR) elbow has a radius equal to 1.0× the diameter (1D) and a more compact shape.
LR elbows provide gradual changes in flow direction, minimizing energy loss. They reduce pressure drop and erosion (especially important in high-velocity or abrasive flows). The larger bend radius means fluid “sees” a gentler turn, so velocity profile and pressure remain more uniform through the elbow. These come in various sizes from ½″ (DN15) up to very large diameters, with standard sizes covering NPS ½–48 (OD 21.3–1219 mm).
LR Elbow has excellent mechanical strength with perfect dimensional accuracy. It is available in various materials such as stainless steel, carbon steel, high nickel alloy such as nickel, monel, hastelloy, inconel, etc. It provides good corrosion resistance, pitting resistance, and oxidation resistance.
Return bend, also known as a 180° elbow, is a pipe fitting system that helps in moving liquids or other fluids safely and efficiently, and it allows for the whole reversal of the flow. This type of fitting creates a U-shaped path, completely changing the direction of flow back toward the origin point.
U bend, essentially another name for the return bend or 180° elbow, has an anti-corrosive body that shows excellent resistance to high heat and acidic media. We offer return elbow having many outstanding features such as high tensile strength, superior finish, higher durability, and excellent machinability.
Return bend also offers remarkable erosion resistance and longer functioning life. This U Bend also provides better resistance to crevice corrosion and stress corrosion cracking. Because of these attributes, Rajveer Stainless & Alloys manufactured LR Bend are highly valued by our clients. Our high-quality LR Elbow is mostly used by the ventilation facility pipeline, water supply system, dairy, food processing industrial pipeline, chemical industry, solar power application, fertilizer, sugar industry, petrochemical, and agriculture industry.
Rajveer Stainless & Alloys manufactures elbow bend pipe using premium quality raw materials selected and tested thoroughly by our expert team members. Our professionals precisely fabricate these products using the latest tools and techniques to fulfill the needs of industries. We always follow all the international and national quality standards to ensure perfect dimensional accuracy. We give the highest significance to the packaging of products and appropriately pack U Bend and offer damage-free delivery. We always use the fastest mode of transport and provide on-time delivery of products.

Standards
Long-radius elbows are governed by pipe fitting standards. In the US/ANSI system, ASME B16.9 covers wrought butt-weld pipe fittings (including LR elbows) for NPS ½–48. (By contrast, ASME B16.28 covers short‐radius elbows).
Material standards include ASTM A234/A420 for carbon & alloy steel fittings and ASTM A403/A815 for austenitic and duplex stainless fittings.
Internationally, ISO 3419 (steel butt-weld fittings) specifies dimensions and steels for bends (type “2D” and “3D”) and ISO 5251 covers stainless butt-weld fittings (type 3D, 5D).
European standards (EN 10253-2/-4) and MSS SP-43 (stainless) likewise define LR elbow geometry.
In summary, LR elbows conform to the dimensional and material specs of these standards, ensuring interchangeability and code compliance.
Types and Sizes:
LR elbows come in various angles. The most common are 90° bends, followed by 45° and 180° (U-bend) elbows.
Some systems also use 22.5° or 60° elbows for finer directional control. Standard sizes cover from ½″ (DN15) up to very large diameters (ASME B16.9 covers NPS ½–48, i.e. OD 21.3–1219 mm.
In metric, ISO and EN standards cover butt-weld fittings in similar size ranges. Elbows are made to various wall thicknesses (schedules): for example, standard weight (SCH40), extra-strong (SCH80/XH), and double-extra strong (XXS) are common. The center-to-end dimensions scale with pipe size: for a 90° LR elbow the “center‐to‐face” distance = 1.5×NPS (in inches). (For example, a 6″ NPS LR elbow would have about a 9″ center‑to‑face.)
Materials Used
Long-radius elbows are made from many materials.
Stainless steel long radius elbows (ASTM A403 WP304/316L, A182 F304/316, etc.) are used for corrosive or hygienic services
Duplex stainless (ASTM A815 UNS S31803/32205) is common for oil/gas corrosive service,
Nickel alloys (ASTM B366, e.g. Inconel, Monel, Hastelloy,) for extreme conditions. PVC and CPVC elbows (e.g. ASTM D2466/D2467 fittings) are widely used in water and corrosive fluid plumbing (low pressure, non-metallic systems). Other specialty materials exist (e.g. brass/copper for small elbows, FRP composites, etc.), but carbon and stainless steel dominate high-pressure piping.
Carbon steel is most common (grades like ASTM A234 WPB, A106, ASME SA105), for moderate service (water, steam, oil).
Low-temperature carbon steels (ASTM A420 WPL3/WPL6) are specified for cryogenic services.
Alloy steels (ASTM A234 grades WP1, WP5, WP9, WP91, etc.) cover higher-temperature and higher-pressure oil/gas applications.

Long‐radius elbows are ubiquitous in piping systems across many sectors. In oil & gas and petrochemical plants, LR elbows (often carbon or stainless steel) connect pipelines, refineries, and chemical units.
These pipe bend elbows handle crude oil, natural gas, fuels and process fluids under high pressure/temperature. In water and wastewater systems, LR elbows (PVC, carbon steel, or ductile iron) appear in large water mains and treatment plants to maintain flow efficiency. Building plumbing and municipal water lines use PVC or copper LR elbows to reduce turbulence and avoid pressure drop.
In HVAC and air systems, 45° or 90° LR elbows (usually galvanized or aluminum) redirect airflow quietly and efficiently; the curved shape minimizes air resistance and noise.
Power plants and industrial process facilities use LR elbows (including alloy steel for boilers/steam lines) for smooth circulation of steam, condensate, and cooling fluids.
Other applications include chemical and food processing (corrosion-resistant stainless LR elbows), marine and shipbuilding (copper and duplex LR elbows for fuel/water), and construction/firefighting systems (fire sprinkler networks with LR brass/copper elbows). In each case, the goal is a leak-free, durable 90°/45° turn that preserves flow – as one industry guide notes, “the long radius elbow helps to minimize turbulence…and allows for the more efficient flow of materials
